Choose questions close to a buying decision
A small business does not need an enormous publishing calendar to start. Collect questions from enquiries and sales conversations: who the service suits, what the process involves, which details affect pricing and how customers should prepare.
For a UK business serving a defined region, include local detail only where it matters. A remote consultancy can discuss collaboration nationally; a physical service should explain its real coverage. Mentioning a city repeatedly does not make an answer useful.
Answer directly, then explain
Open each article with a concise answer in plain language. Follow with practical steps, examples and limitations. A reader should understand the main point before encountering a long introduction or a promotional paragraph.
Use descriptive headings so a person can scan the page. Where a comparison helps, provide a clear table or list. Distinguish illustrative examples from results you actually achieved, and describe the evidence behind any performance claims.
Make authorship and business identity clear
Identify who wrote the article and provide a relevant author page. Maintain consistent business naming, contact information and service descriptions. Use real credentials when they can be checked, and keep them current.
Google’s guidance explains that established SEO practices remain relevant to AI features. Important information should be available in text, pages should be discoverable through internal links and structured data should match visible content. None of these measures promises inclusion.
Maintain the content after publication
Review articles when the service or platform changes. Update meaningful details and record accurate modification dates. Do not refresh dates merely to make unchanged material appear new. Remove or revise obsolete advice that could mislead a customer.
Link articles to the most relevant service page and to genuinely helpful related guides. Assess their value through useful visits and enquiries, rather than counting published words. A smaller library of distinct, maintained answers can be more valuable than repetitive country-keyword pages.
A question business owners ask
Should I create an AI-only version of my website?
Usually the priority is the normal website: useful text, crawlable pages, clear identity and accurate structured data. Google does not require a separate AI text file for its AI search features.
